Undergraduate Research
I am looking for interested undergraduate researchers to work on pilot
projects both during the school year and over the summer. I currently
have funding from the Missouri River
Institute to support an undergraduate researcher in the summer of
2009.
I have mentored several undergraduates during my career and have had
great success. Most recently, I am submitting a journal article with Alison
Hart on research she designed and conducted. Alison recieved funding from
the Center for Integrated Biology at Washington State University and presented
her research as a poster (click here).
Please contact me if you are interested
in working in my laboratory.
Several undergraduate projects I have mentored:
Alison Hart, Washington State University, December 2006
– Present. Effects of viral infection, predator cue, and pesticide
exposure on salamander larvae. Awarded fellowship for research proposal
from the University’s “Center for Integrated Biology”.
Rebecca Featherkile, Washington State University, August
2007 – Present. Interactive effects of pesticide and viral exposure
on tiger salamander eggs and larvae.
Nicole Sinacore, Washington State University, July 2007
– Present. Comparative effects of pesticide exposure on metamorphs
in three tiger salamander sub-species.
Christina Dressel, Washington State University, July
2006 – December 2006, Effect of insecticide and herbicide exposure
on iridovirus virulence in larval Tiger Salamanders. Awarded fellowship
from the University’s “Center for Integrated Biology”.
Honors thesis awarded “with distinction.”
Brooke Eustis, UC Davis, January 2005 – June 2006,
Substrate type alters pesticide effects in amphibians.
Neil Milan, UC Davis, January 2004 – June 2005,
Using metabolomics to determine pesticide exposure in tadpoles.
